Contemporary Bridal Gown "Erskina"
Silk dupion tartan is available in at least 90 different clans. This includes such designs as "Flower of Scotland" which can be used by those who have no "official" family ties to Scotland (Ireland or Wales), but cannot resist the attraction of these beautiful fabrics. I have used silk tartan for shoes, wraps, cloak linings, trims on corsets and entire dresses!

The monochrome glamour of Black and White Erskine tartan was always irresistible. If it is used as the basis for a black and white themed wedding, the possibilities are endless. Guests in black-tie dress will guarantee a sophisticated look to photos; bridesmaids in Little Black Dresses will always be happy! A black and white wedding gown is a marvellous foil for a bouquet of deep red roses. This could be reflected in reception decorations...

The main wedding dress is in white silk - a boned bodice with slightly flared skirt. The sleeves are fitted from the upper arm down, ending in laced cuffs; the uppersleeve is off-the-shoulder with a slashed panel to reveal the black and white Erskine tartan. Neck, sleeve and cuff edges are piped in tartan silk. The tartan is swagged around the hips, flowing into the dramatic train with a bustle-type bow.

"Erskina" can be reproduced as a made-to-measure gown, exactly as above or in a different tartan of preference. Most of the available tartans would contrast either with plain white silk, or an alternative complementary plain colour.

Silk dupion tartans available include: Royal Stewart, Dress Stewart, Dress Gordon, Black Watch, Mackenzie, Prince Charles, Black/ White Erskine, Red Ramsey, Princess Mary, Camel Stewart, Dark Anderson, Kennedy, Lindsay, Dark Maple, Modern Macdonald, Ruthven, Old Wallace, Hunting Macinnes, Mackenzie old colours, Macduff of Duff, Macbeth, Hunting Maclean, Hunting Macrae, Old Macdonal of the Isles, Forbes, Old Maclachlan, Braveheart tartan, Ancient Crawford, Sinclair, Ancient Douglas, Macpherson, Ancient Macleod, Burns, Perthshire, Red Remony, Grampian, Macnaughton, Modern Lindsay, Mackay, Modern Mackay, Bruce, Murray, Fraser, Ancient Johnson, Ancient Davidson, Antique Royal Stewart, Antique Buchanan, Cameron, Gunn, Mackintosh, Macgregor, Baird, Buchanan, Campbell, Hunting Ross, Graham, Mackintosh chief, Hunting Macmillan tartan, Robertson, The National Tartan, Flower of Scotland, Old Baird tartan.
