Corsets & Stays "Ivy"

Ruth approached me via the Royal Shakespeare Company, where I was working at the time. She wanted an authentically cut eighteenth century style corset for her wedding. (Her mother made her matching chiffon skirt). We used an ivory brocade for the corset bodice and hand bound all edges with ivory silk dupion. The bone channels of the corset were top-stitched to highlight the pattern of construction - several bones, all pointing to the waist is a very flattering visual line.

Classic eighteenth century style corset, made to individual order: £750 to £1000 plus fabric and decoration.
Skirts made to order in various styles.

Inspired by the "Ivy" corset, shown above, Hannah chose a beautiful russet/gold smooth dupion for her corset variation. Her chiffon, georgette and crepe satin skirt incorporated many of the tones in her corset fabric - from a deep burnt orange at depth, to the softer pale gold as the top layer. Medieval-style sleeves added a flowing, romantic feel.
